Oh My Goddess Volume 15 : Hand in Hand

If this keeps up I’ll next be reviewing Oh My Goddess Volumes 5 and 14... Because I seem to be moving both forward on the early reviews, and backwards on the latter reviews! Anyway my newest review, Volume 15, is yet another satisfying batch of Goddess power for the readers to soak in and enjoy. Just bask in those goddesses powerful good vibes, why don’t you, and let their greatness just take you away.

Megumi’s running late for Aerodynamics class (because lord knows you must sit in a class where somebody teaches you aerodynamics by throwing paper airplanes about) when she runs afoul of “the Queen” (and yes, she is NOT AMUSED)!
If you’re wondering how Megumi ended up the way she did a few volumes later, here you go. Otherwise it’s another emotional bonding experience between a woman and her bike (with a little… or a lot… of help from Megumi‘s bro Keiichi and Belldandy.

Do you ever remember Urd having an angel like Belldandy before now?
If not here’s where she makes her peace with her angel and starts to have her about again.

Next is the grand opening of Whirlwind (as seen in later volumes), and everyone is there getting drunk. But not Belldandy, she can’t get drunk! No, no, no… que? Apparently failing to find Belldandy any green tea (or iced tea) in the vending machine, he comes back (after Bell manages to knock back a drink or two of hard alcohol with no bad side effects) with a can of soda for her, which promptly makes her drunk and quite prone to help everything and anything with her power… even if it all seems to burden Keiichi with nothing but trouble!

Wow. I didn’t know Belldandy had Winterian blood in her. (I thought I was the only one who created a people who get drunk on caffeine).

After much aiding of the downtrodden (including finding a home for a cat on Urd’s head… well, the cat does seem to look comfortable up there) she manages to get herself physically linked to Keiichi (hand in hand, hence the title of this Graphic Novel) which leads him to have a nightmare about Bell walking off on him on their wedding day… wedding day?!? Oh, and Skuld hits him often accusing him of being a sex fiend, even if it may be true as he has a close encounter with possibly a naked Belldandy during her daily “cleansing ritual”.

Finally we wrap the book with the origin of the “love” between a robotic helper (Banpei) and a “lifeless” (until a future volume when Skuld makes her sentient) welcome bot, and we wrap up the volume.

One of the essentials of any great collection, Oh My Goddess is the excellent work of Kosuke Fujishima, whose writing and art style has created one of the longest running, most beloved series ever to grace manga paper. I don’t know if the series is still ongoing, or if it eventually came to an end (SAY IT AIN’T SO!!) but without a doubt if you are looking for a long term commitment (I think Dark Horse is up to Volume 30 or so by now of the series) then this is the series for you.

Now if I can only get more volumes for review, I’d be so psyched!
Oh My Goddess Volume 15 : Hand in Hand gets 5 lovestruck transportation slash assistant bots out of 5.
