Kamui V. 5
From that point forward it’s a dark dark turn of events that puts at least two characters into the dead column, with the promise of many more secondary and minor characters to be snuffed as things go critical mass.
Utsho’s plans go full throttle as Okikurumi (that spirit thing Atsuma was looking for) begins to grow, consuming all life in it’s path… then, as the building begins falling down around them you find out Utsho and Atsuma are brothers, which is good timing because as NOA comes crashing down on Atsuma (burying him) and his joined at the hip spirit thing (Kojomaru), now separated from Atsuma, finds him in the rubble… this is about as good a time for a flashback since Kojomaru is now powerless to do much separated as it is.
Seems the village our man here is from is no Little House on the Prairie. Seems they have a woman shortage and what few women they have (one I think) they don’t mind treating like (bleep). Yeah. Let’s just say later on when a whole bunch of them gets whacked I don’t seem to be able to muster even fake tears for them.
Anyway, after a long disturbingly dark (mostly disturbing) flashback we come back to the here and now only to find that the situation is going downhill faster than Mel Gibson’s present relevance post his drunken escapades recently as Sumire has an argument with Kojomaru about taking Atsuma off the field of the destroyed NOA complex, and then admits while in a shelter with him that she wants him (despite the fact she skewered him last volume). Atsuma will live, but is there really much to live for now that the badguys are getting the upper hand and the hot female who just saved him has merged with his old pain in the butt “attached at the hip” pal who is now forcing him to complete his contract in exchange for her “freedom”.
People don’t let people form weird dysfunctional Village of the Damned villages. They just ain’t good.
Anyway, stuck between a rock and a hard place it looks like Atsuma is going to have to finish the job… that is, if certain somebodys who are now hunting him don’t finish him first. Breakdown time!
Kamui V. 5 Breakdown
I don’t think this could get any darker or more disturbing… but with my luck it will, it will.
Stop kicking me already, Kamui, you’re getting a good enough score from me so stop it already!
This book won’t end well, and the next volume won’t be much kinder either. Gosh, talk about things just getting worst… and worst… and worst… and worst.
Anyway stay tuned as more revelations are sure to come, and by golly it won’t be pretty.
Otherwise Kamui gets it’s usual blood and guts quota of respect with a 3 and a little bit more… out of 5.
