Chrono Crusade GN 3
By David Rasmussen 28th Apr 05 It’s been building up for sometime now, and as of last Graphic Novel you finally learned about Rosette’s past, and about her brother, Joshua. Well, now it seems that her search for Joshua is about to begin, but it seems that this search (traveling from New York to San Francisco) isn’t going to start well, especially since they can’t even catch a break with the car as if breaks down while still in New York! However that might be the least of their troubles as Sister Rosette and company (Chrono and Azmaria) are about to come into the “presence” of their newest traveling companion, the strange and beautiful jewel witch named Hexen Der Juwel (Jewel Witch), aka Miss Satella. She (with the ability to use these jewels as summoning devices for amazing creatures), who blames Chrono for something horrible that happened to her 10 years ago, finds herself in the rather awkward position of finding this demon she hated only to find that he might not be as bad as she pictured him to be. How awkward is that! Anyway it’s a good thing they met since Rosette and Chrono will need all the help they can get traveling cross country, especially since it means a “reunion” with the bizarre spider-female thing Rosette ran into from Chrono Crusade GN 2! She, who uses humans like living puppets when they’re connected to her via little spider “parasites”, is supposed to bring Rosette back to San Francisco unharmed… though if she had her way things wouldn’t go quite as planned. Too bad for this spider-things the “plan” is going to fall apart faster than the Catwoman video game, but this only gets the gang to Chicago. Obviously it’s still going to be a long way to go to reach California. Even if they can survive this freakish “encounter” it’s still a long long way to San Francisco, and how they manage to carry on on this quest is something only time will reveal (actually it’s something only the review of Chrono Crusade GN 4 will reveal next week). Okay, breakdown time! Chrono Crusade Breakdown the 3rd What’s Hot? - It’s all good. Now that the reviews of the Anime are coming out (I really need to see the Anime myself) there’s just that much more good reasons to check this series out. The manga is good, and I think the anime is good despite the fact I haven’t seen it yet (want to). The artwork and storytelling here in the manga is good though, and I can’t wait to see what happens next. What’s Not? - Eck. Somehow I don’t see a happy ending coming… but I won’t tell you WHY I see that coming until next week, since it’s Graphic Novel 4 which kind of ends any faint hope of THAT happening. Find out how next week. Moments to Remember? - As always it’s the interactions and action that is the most memorable. The moments between Rosette, Chrono, Azmaria and newest traveling companion Satella are the most memorable. Right after that the action of the title which is solidly done. I can’t think of any negative things to say about Chrono Crusade. Nope. Nothing comes to mind. What to Ignore? - Hmm? Is there something to ignore? Well… maybe me for the time being. Somehow I feel something is going to happen before this is all over, but for now (since the Anime is only just coming out) you can ignore my suspicions. Next week I’ll say more about this anyway so maybe just ignore more until then. Overall? - It’s still all good. I figure this series won’t last much longer but it’s been a good read for however long I’ve had the chance to read it. Looking forward to seeing what happens next. It’s all good, so check it out eh? You’ll enjoy it, as I’m sure you’ll enjoy the anime. Go for it!
