Show of hands. Who remembers Neo Geo/SNK and all their classic beloved games? Now again show of hands... who remembers these games well enough to drop money on a collection of these games for your Wii? Sure, some of these games are well known series (Fatal Fury, Metal Slug, Samurai Shodown, King of Fighters), some are kinda known (Art of Fighting, King of the Monsters) and then there's a game I'm sure had 2 PSP remakes (if it was a remake which I don't know) which sucked (Sengoku).

And while I am at it? Sure, I do like reboots as much as the next gamer (I did abit of reviews of old retro games past collected myself here and there) but what is it with these collections and their over obsession with certain

genres? Now a game that gives me a big mix of genres and games? Sounds great and I would love it… games that fixate? Not so great. So… just how fixated is this on what, and is there enough variety? Good question, let's find out!

Let's recap. What does this game offer? Actually it has abit of variety as you are about to see. Fighting - Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters '94 (gee, think we'll EVER see a King of Fighter that is actually to date? Like, I don't know, King of Fighters 2009 for instance?!?), King of the Monsters, Samurai Shodown & World Heroes

The most games are fighting games, and while I do like a good fighting game from time to time this is abit much… though not

a dud in the batch so that's forgivable.

Shooters (Side Scrolling and overhead) - Last Resort, Magician Lord, Metal Slug & Shock Troopers Not bad. I got hooked on Metal Slug personally.

Side Scrolling Beat-em-up - Burning Fight, Sengoku, Top Hunter

Sports - Baseball Stars 2, Neo Turf Masters (GOLF MAN! GOLF!!), The Next Glory Oh look! The sports selection is actually good! It's Baseball and Golf and Soccer (Futbol). Not bad… have to work on my golf game though.

Overall there's enough of a mix of good classic games (games even I have always wanted to play ever since I first saw them but never got about to doing that) and enough variety to make it a good collection. Add to that the reward system (the more you invest in mastering a game the

more you unlock) and the wide variety of choices to avoid gamer burnout (tired of playing one genre too long) and you have a nice set here. Add to that the fact you can use either the Wiimote (flipped sideways) or the rarely used Classic Controller and you got a nice pick-me-up for those looking for an infusion of old school gaming yet unable to hook up to the Wii Store (or unable to pick up a new Wii card of points to add onto your downloaded Wii games with the economy being the way it is and all). Now if somebody would kindly tell me when this Volume 2 of SNK Arcade Classics is coming out, that's all I want to know. 3 good jobs SNK out of 5.

If I had to weight in on the top dozen PS2 title franchises worth owning (now that you can probably find all of them cheap on the bargain bin at your favorite gaming store like GameStop), two of those...
