Punch Drunk Love - Wow, what a movie. Adam Sandler does a great job. Although I was too tense about the whole situation to enjoy the movie, it was well made.

I was slightly disappointed with Punch Drunk Love after I'd heard such great things, but it's still a decent movie nonetheless. The whole scam plotline is brilliant, and Adam Sandler does a great job in the lead role as you said. I think I'll have to watch this one again before I make up my mind...

Shrek 2 - Excellent follow up to the original film. Even better in my opinion, really takes no prisoners. Fantastic puss in boots, and eddie murphy has found the only use of any talent he had. John Cleese and Jennifer Saunders suit the parts, really well done.

Bad Boys II - I don't know why people say it's bad, I thought it was perfectly fine. Not as good as the first one though.

Sorry Kris but Bad Boys II is just an awful, awful film. Its not remotely funny or particularly entertaining (barring the highway chase). What I found even more irritating is the level of violence (I cant believe I am going to say this) but it is unecessarily gratuitous. Firstly they are trying to bring down a drugs ring that kills a total of one person in the entire film - hell even Martin Lawrence takes two of the tablets and has a great time, yet to stop this evil drugslord they have to knock heads off dead people getting thrown from a van, they have to cause shitloads of damage to roads, cars and buildings, and then they have to totally destroy hundreds of peoples homes, but it doesn't matter because they aint Americans anyway so they dont count. It just really annoyed me that the crime didnt equal the amount of destruction that they showed on screen. Plus it was just generally bad in all areas but then again Bay was directing so it was obvious really.

Ditto.

HULK - Crap, shite, bollocks. Ang Lee did a terrible job, and the action sequences dont amount to much. Really awful.

The Matrix Revolutions - The war element brings in tension and the final fight gets back to what it should have been. Reloaded was awful but Monica Belluci's breasts perked in leather=only interesting thing about the flick. Smitty is impresseive, and the Seraph kicks ass.

You are soooo wrong about the Hulk, apart from the ending, it's a really good interpretation of the original Comic Hulk. Bravo I say!

Personally I think Ang Lee was really brave to tackle a comic book franchise and focus more on the internal struggle of the Hulk rather than action, the acting was also impressive. However it does fail in a number of areas; it's too long, the cgi is still not up to the job imo, the end fight (in fact ALL the fights) were crap - to fight giant poodles is just stupid and I couldn't even see what the hell was going on in the last battle. So for me it was a nice idea but poorly executed in a number of areas.

Nope, not one single element of the film was any good. Even Reloaded was better.

see i thought Revolutions was more like the first one. Reloaded tried to cram loads of mythology and useless dialogue inbetween over-the-top action sequences. I thought it was clunky and pointless and didnt capture the unique style of the first film.

Plus, the hundred smith fight is bullcrap. You can tell its fake, it takes you out of the movie.

He has a point...some of the CGI work in The Matrix, though technically wonderful, was far too ambitious and went some way to spoiling your belief in the film. If this was the Wachowski brother's subtle comment on our perception of reality...who cares?

I'm of the mind where so long as effects aren't laughably bad then they're good enough. Nobody whined when Harryhausens beasts went at it, nobody bemoaned the Rancor looking out of place, I think nowadays people are too fussy about the "little" things.

Dat's twue, but I think it's more to do with consitency than anything else. In the Matrix, many of the effects are faultless...so when a slightly dodgy one comes around (such as the agent jumping on the bonnet of the car in Reloaded) you can't help but notice. And IMHO Ray Harryhausen's stop motion effects were much better than anything in the Matrix.

The hulk was more like godzilla. The hulk was way to big. he was standing their swating at helicopters didnt remind me of the hulk i was use to. Also the way they have the screen divided up and consently sliding in a new frame was terriable. I dont know what they were trying to do with it (maybe make it look more like a comic) but IMO it failed.

AS for the matrix revolutions. I didnt any of them after the first one. One of the main things is that Neo went from the one inside the matrix to some type of fucking super hero outside the matrix. Inside they had a justification anything can be done inside a computer. Out side hes a guy with superhero abilities, really lame.

Knockaround Guys - Really good. Kinda like a newage mob movie. Vin Diesel wasn't too bad either, (for once).

OK so looks like we've got a lot of opinions kicking it about so to start with

recent purchases - well been finishing off some anime series such as [b]nadesico[b] and [b]noir[b].
last movies i've bought were [b]moon warriors[b] which is so shockingly bad its great & [b]the lion king[b] best disney movie ever!

last few cinema trips been dissapointing - the current [b]harry potter[b] is just poor. seriously what were they thinking with cutting so much out of the book? dumb bloody film makers!
best movies i've seen recently [b]infernal affairs[b] which was a fantastic crime thriller superbly acted by andy lau and tony leung with great support from anthony wong. comes out on dvd soon i recommend this very highly.
[b]shaun of the dead[b] was also a great film just like an extended episode of spaced though.

now what is all this talk of the [b]hulk[b] being a poor film - shame on you.
now i'll admit i seem to be the only one of my mates who respect this movie but i think it is one of the best super-hero movies. thing with the hulk is- the hulk is a [b]BORING[b] character. bruce banner on the other hand is interesting and the movie captured his conflict really well. in fact the acting from all the cast was fantastic.

not really seen the matrix sequels. but wasnt really expecting much. they should just of left it with the first movie.

oh and the last samurai was nothing more than entertaining. and the ending was far too twee. tom cruise should have died in the battle.

by the way nice to see mention of ulysses 31 and dungeons & dragons. would like to see jayce & the wheeled warriors come out soon.

All About Lily Chou-Chou - This is a very good film, it is a little long but the subject matter is always engaging as is the way it is told (the action changes time frames and is intercut with messages from internet forums). The music is fantastic and is essential to the film. Some are not going to like it but if you dont mind watching something a little different then its well worth a try.
