World Cup 2010

Postby Huxley » Sat Jun 12, 2010 12:11 am

It's under way in South Africa right now in case you hadn't noticed the millions of adverts everywhere and gajillion England flags being rammed down your throat.

Not that I'm complaining, I love it! Two matches played so far, but this is about the only thing I remember:

Oh dear...I thought you meant today

If we don't win today we don't deserve to go through. The only team that's made us look good are the French  .

Well, at least we didn't go out at the group stages, which was a real possibility at one point.

England > France/Italy (not really )

Seriously, we were one of the worst teams to qualify through the group stages and we certainly didn't deserve to progress any further. Well done to Germany, but I feel they might struggle against better teams.

Exactly.

It's that kind of mentality that leads fans to boo their own players because they're 'multi-millionaires' and 'should be doing better'. Yeah, well, I'm sure booing them will help them play better. Maybe Rooney shouldn't have said what he said, but the sentiment was right.

In four years the squad will look very different but I'm sure the fans will be equally deluded.

Germany were finally outclassed. They totally surpassed my (and probably everyone else's) expectations this tournament, and in truth they played some of the best football. But it should be a good final...which will probably mean it'll be fucking dull as dishwater

Well done Spain. Deserved winners in the end despite a dodgy start, and certainly the better team in the final.

It was pretty dull though

Agreed, the whole world cup this time around was a pretty dull affair. None of the big stars lived up to their expectations. Nike must be terribly embarassed about their "Write the Future" ad!

Yeah, it was a great ad but way to pick the stars of the world cup

Well...at least they weren't Pringles. Peter Crouch and...Nicolas 'you son of a whore' Anelka
