Gambling, anyone?

Postby otaku_kei » Mon Aug 07, 2006 9:29 pm

With the rise and rise of online gambling, and entire tv chanels all devotd to poker, horse racing and all other forms of gambling I was just wondering whether anyone here was into the odd flutter?

Are you, like me, addicted to poker? (I'm raging that my pocket kings just lost out to pocket nines!!! son of a bitch!!)

Or do you think that it is a waste of time and money?

Online gambling of any kind is illegal in the State of Hawaii, so I wouldn't know. I guess not though since I don't even review video game versions of gambling so... no, I'm not into it.

i dont like gambling at all, i like playing poker and its fun to throw a few quid in with mates but i dont take it seriously and would never go into a horse racing shop or even online with my card. Way too addictive and i have good experience on the subject, since my father had an addiction, and apparently is in a secure enough relationship now to buy tickets to chepstow for a weekend, any idea what that costs all inclusive? id say somewhere around the money he should have been giving to my mum for support as i cant help enough with a part time job.

thats the underside of it anyway im sure theres a lot of positives to throwing money away. sorry if im stronging it but its how i feel. Plus my nan wouldnt stop telling me how wrong it was when i was kid, yet i never noticed how much her and dad hated each other. Kids, much better investment, they take all your money and then resent you for it.

Nope and no. Like Blonde I'll bet a few quid here and there on a personal level but never anything more than that. Not unless it's some kind of work related consortium thing, but that's really the same principle as the poker game. Fun, nothing more.

Same here, poker and stuff's good when you've got a bit of spare cash, but I wouldn't be willing to get into any particularly high stakes.

I do play the lottery on occasion, but I don't gamble online or play these tv quiz shows due to the fact you could spend a lot of money on this stuff.

so you all play poker? but are against gambling... right! Its all a matter of degrees really.

i myself am not addicted. i've only ever put on about $30 (so about £23), but with tournaments, and cheap tables, i've never had to invest anymore. some you win, some you lose, but overall I'm smart enough to come out ahead of the game. I also risk no necessary cash. bills and such are paid for first, then comes the fun money.

poker is good fun, and if you;re any good it can keep you amused for a long time. just have to be smart with your cash

Well, seems like you're still in the 'fun' bracket to me. From what I've seen it's very easy to become obsessed with gambling, at which point it no longer becomes anything like fun.

I do gambling but I was not really hook to it. I think that you can do this occasionally and not get addicted to it.

I'm not a gambling person in any way at all.

After all, need to have money in the first place to gamble!

Since Hawaii is a Nanny State all forms of gambling is illegal and punishable by fines and imprisonment.
Anyway I gamble everytime I pick up a game for review, which is all the gambling I think I can take in my lifetime.
