What's hidden under the floorboard of shame?

What's hidden under the floorboard of shame?

Hidden under the floorboards in my dusty attic is a secret so shameful I've buried the memory deep down at the back of my mind...until now. It's time to admit that I've collected some truly dire anime over the years, and I'm here to share that burden so hopefully you can avoid making the same mistakes I have.

And we'll start with the most heinous of my crimes - the inexcusably awful Digital Devil. This is an interesting one, because it's based on the increasingly popular Persona/Digital Devil Saga series of RPGs that actually date back to the 80's despite only coming to prominence in the west recently. Well, that doesn't stop it from sucking something rotten! Enjoy...or not.

Schoolgirl Milky Crisis review

Schoolgirl Milky Crisis review

Schoolgirl Milky Crisis. Three words that shouldn’t really be anywhere near each other, yet alone in the same title. They conjure up some pretty disturbing images involving schoolgirls and milk that - yep - they went and put that on the cover. A schoolgirl with udders.

There's actually a lot more to this book from author Jonathan Clements than a disturbing udder girl, which the subtitle 'Adventures in the anime and manga trade' kinda gives away.

We're not back, we never went away!

Posted by John Huxley on 16th Feb 09

Well, I guess a little explanation is in order. But before that, I'd like to apologise to anyone who tried to access the homemademech.com domain over the past week or so. Due to a unfortunate set of circumstances the domain expired without my knowledge. If you're interested in the (lengthy & tedious) details hit the jump, otherwise please accept my apology and look forward to some new content in the *very* near future.

A bad (average) Ghibli film?

A bad (average) Ghibli film?

A bit late to the party on this one (as in a year or so), here's our review of Tales From Earthsea. Yes, it is slightly disappointing for a Ghibli movie. But it's a little more complicated than that, so read the review and make your own mind up...if you haven't seen it already. This is also the first review since our relaunch that hasn't got a silver or gold star. Hurrah for standards!

Sugar coating

First, apologies for the tardy update. I had meant to get this review up earlier but I kinda didn't feel like doing much with a cold. Better late than never and all that.

Anyway, the point of this post is something else entirely. You might have noticed that almost every review since our return has been given a gold or silver award.

Lieutenant White reporting

Hurrah! A new anime review. Tekkonkinkreet is one of only a handful of anime released on Blu-Ray in this country, but thanks to some high production values and fine picture quality, it's a great advertisement for Sony's platform. Click the review to find out if Tekkonkinkreet has more going for it than its handsome looks...

Affiliate watch

Posted by John Huxley on 7th Jan 09

We've just added a new affiliate, Qubetube, which is long time contributor Marq's blog site. He also runs a podcast called Synthwave Radio, so go pay him a visit and say hello!

And we've also recently completed a new forum template of behalf of Simple Gamer which you can access here. It's actually slightly narrower than the standard template so it might be useful for those of you on smaller displays.

The valmorification was a complete success!

Welcome to the new Anime Boredom Home Made Mech! It's long overdue in more than one sense, so I'll have to apologise for my tardiness and hope the wait was worth it. Not only have we had a complete redesign, there are plenty of new features too.

Not least this little 'more' link thingy which takes you through to read the rest of the post...

Err...the site isn't dead. Honest. Far from it, we're actually readying an entirely new version of the site which will be launching in the coming months. No set date yet, but I felt you guys were at least owed an explanation for the lack of activity in recent weeks. But fear not! We have an update ready for the weekend with some good stuff, so keep an eye out.
