X (series)
My anime friends all recommended that I watch X, so I decided to pick it up and take a look. I haven't finished the entire series yet, I'm on episode 16 and so far I really liked it. So I decided to take a look on what Boredom thought of it. I ended up reading all the reviews and my conclusion was "what the HELL?" They reviewed the movie and not the series without even watching the series. So here is the review of what you usually watch first: Image 1 of 3. Click to enlarge Image 2 of 3. Click to enlarge
I've only watched 16 episodes, but I have enough to tell to get you interested. Most of the story takes place in Tokyo. The main character is based on Kamui. He was born with strength and magic. At the age of perhaps
He has no friends but from his young childhood, Kotori and Fuma. Fuma is Kotori's brother. While Kamui and Kotori were playing they climbed up a tree to help a bird get back to its nest. Kotori fell and Kamui caught her. Kamui basically saved her from falling; therefore Fuma promised Kamui that he would protect him forever for saving his sister.
Kamui and his mother had to move away. Six years later his mother dies sacrificing her life for him. Before her death she tells him to go back to Tokyo and find his destiny and the Holly Sword. He doesn't retrieve the sword in time and it gets taken away by the enemy. He attends high school there and meets Kotori and Fuma once again. He meets the 7 seals of who are trying to protect Earth or known as Dragons of Heaven, they fight the Dragons of Earth who are trying to destroy the world. He finds
Kamui learns that he has two paths to choose, either accept the world now or destroy it and create it to a better place with no humans and their filth'. At first he doesn't really care, but then he realizes that he has two people to protect. So, therefore he joins the Dragons of Heaven. But then another Kamui shows up and you really burst when you see whom it is, lets just say someone can't keep a promise anymore. That Kamui joins the Dragons of Earth, then the real battles start.
Many of you who have seen this or are about to see it might be wondering why it is called X. I think I know, but I am not sure if I am right. To me of my reason: In algebra when you do equations you use x to substitute the number that you do not know. Well in this case the Image 3 of 3. Click to enlarge
The anime of this is really good, it's like moving manga. The music is really great, but so far I think I've only heard one theme song.
This is a good anime so far I really like it, but things that you would never expect continue to happen and I mean never. There is barely any comedy in it, perhaps somewhat. It is mainly drama and action with a lot of gore. It is complicated, but fun. I wouldn't suggest it to anyone, but I highly suggest it to the ones that have only seen the movie it will fill in many holes (I suspect that the movie is like Escaflowne's movie, it goes through the entire series). I haven't finished it yet but so far so good. If you're not shallow and like complicated and you gory anime go watch it.
P.S. Why do swords blow up from people's bodies?
8/10
