Human Crossing DVD Volume 2 (The Cicadas of Winter)
By David Rasmussen 14th Sep 07 The human condition. That which makes us what we are. All that it entails is explored in the Anime about the little people, who mill about their lives in modern day Tokyo reaching crossroads that need to be traversed. Human Crossing ahead, danger. Here are a few more tales of the life mostly ordinary for you to consider. Episode 5 : The Cicadas of Winter Yes, this is the episode that the DVD is named after. Here’s a story for The Insider (“Let’s get insiiidddeee!!”) or Entertainment Tonight to choke down, folks! A big star ends up getting lost in his own success, forgetting himself in the process… that’s it. Well, until something just so happens to happen along to change everything. What? You’ll see. Episode 6 : The Beautiful Afterimage So, what does an industrial area filled with wage slaves, and a youth looking to dig himself out of the life despite his family’s attempt to drag him down with them into their unintellectual path have to do with the story? Dude, that is the story. The boy ends up becoming a brainy professor in a Christian school, but that puts him at odds with his not so intellectual brother who wants help getting his kid into that school (which is met by strict opposition by the brother despite the fact the other brother stood up for this brother so he’d have a chance to get into that school in the first place). Sure, the professor’s life was bad so you can see why he’d want to forget the life he came from… but does he really have to forget the family he came from as well (despite the fact most of them seemed to want to drag the intellectual child down instead of push him upwards into success?) Episode 7 : Sidelined Oh no, not another Harrison Ford it’ll take a bullet up the arse to get person to put their life in the proper perspective story! But yes… that is what we’re facing here. Oh yes. The story is called “Sidelined”, and it’s about a workaholic reporter who learns what’s really important in life (just like what happened last DVD). And once again let’s hope it isn’t a bad case of bullet up the arse to teach this reporter about the important things in life (once again). OK, breakdown time. Yes, still getting a perfect score because it’s still worth watching. Despite the fact we seem several themes from last DVD repeated here, Human Crossing (aka Human Scramble) is still that slice of real life which is a slap in the face of the culture-less FOX News(s) of the world would couldn’t tell Sexy Sailor Soldiers apart from Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon. Go give the O’Reilly and the Cavuto (Kabuto) of the network this series as a present… you won’t be the slightest bit appreciated by them, but do it anyway. The culture clowns that they are. Human Crossing DVD Volume 2 gets 5 O’Reilly-isms (BLOVIATE YOUR POPPINJAYS or however it’s spelled) out of 5. Culture Warrior indeed, Mr. Homophobic you.
