The Animatrix
The Second Renaissance - pt1: Image 1 of 3. Click to enlarge
One of the best of all 9 short films, (in my opinion). Gives a good deal of information about the whole background on how the machines got so pissed at the humans, and for a damn good reason too. It's very amusing to see how badly the humans treated the machines, (if they only knew how things would turn out). Great animation. Only the first part is shown which is later continued
The Second Renaissance - pt2:
Not as good as the first part, but all the graphic scenes made it still a great addition. Just a continuation from the first part. Not too much has changed. I'm not sure why they just didn't put the two together.
Beyond:
Also a pretty good short film. Doesn't have much to do with anything really, but it's cool none the less. A girl's cat goes missing and she goes out to look for it and finds a house where reality bends. Doesn't sound like much, but you didn't direct this film, did you? Animation was sub par.
The Final Flight of the Osiris:
I didn't like final flight at all. Maybe because it was 3D, and I'm not into the whole 3D thing, but I didn't find it had much to offer. Yea, it had the cool girl doing 360's in the air, but other than that, what really was the Final Flight of the Osiris? Satisfying ending though, how it turned out pleased me quite well.

Probably the most disliked of the 9 short films. I don't think it's the worst, but probably not the best either. A guy runs, breaks out of the matrix, and well, that's pretty much it. I guess people didn't really enjoy watching the run, but I thought it was damn sexay! (OK maybe not..) Pretty good animation here too.
Kid's Story:
Probably my most favorite besides TSR-PT1. A kid finds Neo via the net, and he too wonders what is the Matrix, just like Neo himself did at one point. In real, I don't know why I liked this one above all the others, maybe I just like seeing things rebel, and there was whole lot of agent defying action going on here. Sub par animation.

Lyndon's favorite, I found it was ok. A lot of cool scenes, not much for story. Just a girl fighting a guy in a pretty cool fashion. I think this was done by the guy that did Ninja Scroll, as I haven't seen that yet,
Detective Story:
Also one of my favorites, (is there a bad film in The Animatrix? Sadly yes..). A detective is hired to track down a hacker, the one we all know and love, Trinity. Nothing too great, (did I mention these are like 10-20 minutes long?) Done by Mr. Cowboy Bebop himself. Average animation.
Matriculated:
OK, wtf? Can someone tell me what in utter hell this was for? I never watched something so boring and pointless in my life. Take this out! From what I got, a machine chases some humans around, then they get attacked, I shoot himself. If you're viewing this DVD and the word Matriculated comes up on the screen, SHUT IT OFF! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Sub par animation..
Well, there you have it folks. My short, if not a total waste of time, reviews. Now go rent this, it's worth every penny. Hey, 7 out of 9 films is ok, is it not?
