Akira, the so called God of Anime. I think we are being over-dramatic but I guess you can say that. I mean, it came out waaaaaaaaaay before Evangelion didn't it? This movie was probably the first anime to really make an impact. It made quite an impact on me. You might have heard of the movie Metropolis, I think they tried and failed to copy Akira's main concept. One of the things that helped Akira become so famous, was that it was ahead of it's time. And I still think it's ahead of it's time, even for nowadays.
So what is Akira anyways? IsClick to enlarge. We have 3 images

it a new computer or something? Or was it that guy who made Dragon Ball Z? Neither my friends. It's like some sort of life force. Or just something really big. Energy maybe. So that means we all have a bit of Akira in us right? Who knows. But there are these people called the Zombie Children (that's what I like to call them) that can really connect with Akira. They can use it to destroy shit and predict shit and all sorts of shit. But they decide not too. Well, that's no fun. So then there is this motorcycle gang. TheyClick to enlarge. We have 3 images

fight other motorcycle gangs. But one night, one of the gang members, Tetsuo, has an accident and comes in contact with one of the Zombie Children. Somehow, their ability to connect to Akira is passed on to Tetsuo. But Tetsuo is not like the Zombie Children, and he gets corrupted by the enormous power. So what happens when a insane powerful dude is let loose upon Tokyo? You can watch to see. I make it sound less than it really is. That sometimes happens. It fits into that category. more satisfying ending. The dub wasn't too bad either. This movie is great. The dogs getting shot, the motorcycle scenes, the people getting torn apart by bullets. WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED!?
The animation is very fluent, especially for the 80's. I give major credit to the people who thought up, and made this. The music was god. Especially the theme they played during the credits, right down to the BGM's. It's worth the 2 hours + time it takes to watch. It's just when do you have the time. Quit yer job for all I care, just make some damn time.
